As the sole witness to a dying man’s enigmatic last words, would-be young adventurer Bobby Attfield is determined to solve the riddle they posed, and forms an unlikely alliance with the beautiful socialite Frankie Derwent and visiting family friend Miss Marple (Julia McKenzie).

But when someone tries to kill Bobby they realise a murderer is at large, and a trail of clues leads them to Castle Savage and its strange inhabitants. The trio cleverly charm an invitation to stay at the castle from the other-worldly Sylvia Savage, and they capture the interest of her teenage children by the late, and loathed, Sir Jack Savage.

Whilst provocative Dorothy seems intent on snaring Bobby, Tom haunts Frankie with all the stealth of his pet viper – and he is not pleased when she catches the eye of handsome music teacher Roger Bassington…

Miss Marple, however, draws on her deep knowledge of human behaviour and quietly observes the retinue of people connected to the castle – the controlling psychiatrist Dr Nicholson and his delicate young wife Moira; the eccentric Claud Evans with his hothouse full of exotic orchids; and Wilson, Sylvia’s solemn, ever-present butler.

Natalie’s Character

Natalie plays Moira Nicholson, the young and seemingly fragile wife of Dr Nicholson. When Frankie first comes to Castle Savage she sees a young woman running in the grounds looking terrified, at a later dinner party she learns that the woman was Moira. Although Moira seems to be close to Sylvia she is convinced that her husband is trying to solicit an affair with her and she admits to spying on the pair. Later Moira is again caught running frightened around the grounds at night, this time by Bobby. As Miss Marple’s investigation becomes more intense Moira’s husband is suspected of the killings and their house is searched. Bobby finds Moira tied up in a cupboard. With Dr Nicholson taken away, Bobby, Frankie and Miss Marple leave Castle Savage whilst Moira and Roger stay to celebrate Sylvia’s birthday…
