Hever Castle is the child hood home of Anne Boleyn, many historians suggest that Anne was born here but it is generally believed she was born in Blickling Hall in Norfolk and later moved to Hever with her family in early child hood. Anne enjoyed some quiet years at Hever with her sister Mary and younger brother George, up until her father sent her to France to be educated and to be in the service of Queen Claude. Whilst in France Anne and had been in the company of strong woman such as the Regent Margaret of Austria and Margaret of Navarre, it is from these women Anne is said to have got her strong willed nature from.
In her late teens Anne returned to England when relations between France and England turned sour, she was now to be in the service of Queen Catherine of Aragon. Soon after she returned Anne was noticed by the King and her star began to rise. During Henry's pursuit of Anne she often returned to her home, Hever Castle, perhaps to frustrate him more as some would suggest, or rather to simply get away.
Although Hampton Court is not necessarily important to Anne, it is shown on the show as it was one of Henry's favorite places. Wolsey lived in Hampton up until about 1529 when Henry took it over and built the Great Hall and the tennis courts. Jane Seymour, Anne's rival died in Hampton court 12 days after giving birth to Prince Edward and Anne's cousin Catherine Howard, Henry's fifth wife was arrested there and later executed.
The Tower of London is important to Anne's story for two reasons; she was brought here in May of 1933 to be Coronated then just three years later she was brought back as a prisoner. The first time around Anne arrived on the Queen's barge, already five months pregnant, feeling happy and safe. The second time she was brought in through Traitors Gate and taken to the room she had stayed in the night before her coronation. On the 19th May 1936 Queen Anne was brought to the scaffold and beheaded. Where the scaffold once was now stands a plaque with a memorial to some who died there. Anne's name is top of the list.
Anne was buried in the St.Peters Ad Vincula Chapel which is located inside the Tower. She was placed in an arrow box, since Henry had left no coffin for her and buried in an unmarked grave in the chapel. Centuries later Queen Victoria ordered renovations of the Chapel where Anne's remains were said to have been found along with her cousins Catherine Howards and Lady Jane Grey's. Now there is a tile on the floor marked 'Queen Anne' however due to the amount of remains found and the amount of renovations done on the Tower it is doubtful that Anne's remains lie directly under the tile.
