I've never really written any fan-fiction before, but today, when I should have been revising I felt like writing something. I don't think its really any good but you may enjoy.

----
Henry sat looking out over the gardens at Windsor, his leg throbbing with pain and giving off a pungent smell. He winced as he tried to move it. Old man he thought, your an old man. Once described as the most handsome prince in Christendom he was now a unhappy middle aged man plagued by his massive weight and this throbbing ulcer on his leg. A tear escaped from the corner of his eye and trickled down his purple cheek. He wiped it away quickly, Kings should not cry he thought.
Suddenly there was knock on the door, he grumbled at the thought of company. Why could they not just leave him alone.
"What?" He bellowed.
The door opened and Catherine Parr, his wife, the Queen stepped in. She bowed slightly and smiled warmly at him. It had no effect he knew why she was here.
"If you are here on her behalf then do not bother" His voice rang with anger, but it did not falter her. Over the years she had become custom to his foul temper.
"Your Majesty, The Princess Eliza.."
"The Lady" He interrupted
"Your majesty?"
"Bastards don't have titles" He grumbled bitterly, his breathing becoming heavier as his anger rose. Catherine looked at him in disbelief.
"Your daughter" She said strongly "Wishes to speak to you, she begs your forgiveness and"
"She has no right to ask to speak to ME! She has been banished from court, from my life, from everything! If she has not left this castle in one hour then by god i will put her out myself!" His narrow eyes glared at her and told her to get out.

Alone again, his breathing started to regain a normal pace. However his whole body was shaking. That girl he thought, that girl ruined everything. A smirk crept onto his face at the thought of her. Her dark eyes, like her mothers, her long auburn hair and her pretty pale face. She was a haughty wench and angered him like no other, except one. But he loved her dearly, more than he cared to show her or tell anyone.
"She needs to learn she cannot disobey me" He said quietly to himself.
The previous night Elizabeth, had mentioned her mother at the banquet. She had said her name out load, and everyone had gasped and looked straight to Henry who's face turned red and purple. "OUT" he had screamed at her, and instead of running out in tears as he thought she would she raised her head high and slowly walked out of the room.
Henry sighed, she was the only one that dare mention Anne's name, but he had never stopped anyone from mentioning it, it was an unwritten rule in court but now, hearing that name again gave him some pleasure. His stomach turned and the hairs on the back of his neck stood up as they always did when he thought of Anne. Anne Boleyn, the beautiful girl from Hever who had stolen his heart. Suddenly he felt young again, if it hadn't of been for his leg he would have sprung out of his chair and marched into court. But he was an old man now, left with bitter memories to taunght him, left with regrets to plague him.

A vision of Anne, dressed in gold cloth with pearls in her hair appeared before him, he recognized the memory instantly it was her coronation. A happy day Henry remembered, Anne's day. How happy they had both been, in love, expecting a prince and finally married. Again Elizabeth came to mind and his spirit fell. Why had she not been a prince? She would of made such a magnificent prince, better he though, than Edward. That weak pale son he had so longed for and got off the one he had replaced Anne with, but what good would he do for England, nothing compared to what Elizabeth could do given the change.
"No, I cannot leave my country to a Queen!" He murmured. That had been his excuse to get rid of Anne, who had failed to give him a son. But in truth he knew that any princess of Anne's would be stronger than any Prince he would get anywhere else. If only she had given him a son, he would have loved her for the rest of his life... but he did anyway he thought. Although he professed to hate her, how could he. She was strong willed and bad tempered yes but she had brought a spark into his life, she represented a challenge and the unexpected. She like her daughter was not afraid to talk to him like a man even though he was a great King and when he dreamt it was her he dreamt of, not Katherine, nor Jane or any other of his wives. It was Anne.

He sat back in his chair and rubbed the bristle on his chin, his mind went back in time to April 1536. He was walking in the gardens at Hampton with Cromwell, discussing when Anne's arrest should be made. Suddenly she had burst out of the Palace carrying Elizabeth in her arms.
"What am I to be charged with?" She demanded, a tear running down her cheek.
He was taken back, he had rarely seen her cry and how pitiful she looked now with their daughter in her arms. He signaled to Cromwell to move away and give them some space.
"Anne.."
"You may not love me anymore Henry, but I am your wife, your Queen,  mother to your heir" She cried looking lovingly at Elizabeth then back at Henry. "You cannot do this to me! It is unacceptable. We have been married but 3 years, the getting of a Prince can take a longtime! Why Katherine had 20 years, but I? I get 3!"
"I am not as young as I used to be Anne, England needs a Prince now." He said calmly "and you have only given me one useless daughter and even she is under dispute".
Anne let out a hearty laugh and he almost laughed with her but kept his cool. Damn Cromwell he thought, he had gone too far this time. The child was obviously his.
"I see you are prepared to go to extraordinary lengths to get rid of me. Henry look at her" She moved closer to him and held Elizabeth higher. "She is yours, ours. She has my eyes and your coloring, she even has your laugh. This child is a Tudor, and I will not have her legitimacy questioned. She is Princess as I am Queen."
Henry smiled affectionately at the child but moved away.
"She is Princess as long as you are Queen" He retorted and instantly regretted it as he saw the hurt in her eyes. She was wrong, he did love her and this was the hardest thing he had ever done. All to get an heir.
Anne looked down at her daughter and kissed her forehead.
"My Elizabeth" She said softly as without a word to him, she turned away and walked back into the Palace carrying The Princess Elizabeth.
That was the last time he had seen her. He could not bring himself to see her again, he knew she would mock him on the pathetic charges brought against her. All of course which were false, the only crime she had committed had been to not give England a Prince. But now he had one and was he any happier? He had thought God had plagued his marriages, but in truth he was the one common factor in all of them. He did not know how to be truly happy, he was always looking for more and yet he thought, he had been truly happy with Anne. If only she had given him a son!

Again there was a knock on the door this time a young, pale, sickly looking boy, dressed in the finest cloth of purple came in.
"Edward my boy!" Henry bellowed.
Edward winced at the loudness of his fathers greeting "Mother Jack says I am to do my studies with your majesty to keep you of good cheer" He said, his voice shaking slightly with fear of this great hulk of a man that sat before him.
"Very well, set your self up over on that desk, across the room" Henry advised, watching his son, this boy he had so longed for, take his books and set them down on the table. Once again his mind wandered, the scribbling of Edward's pen soothing him into a lull. He watched as his son poured over the books in front of him, it was important for a Prince to be well educated but at Edward's age he had been out dancing, hunting and enjoying life. All this boy did was study and he was a sickly thing, Henry wondered if he would even have the energy or stamina to go out hunting. Elizabeth certainly would, she enjoyed life and appreciated any attention Henry gave her, not like Edward who received it all the time but was still frightened by him. Henry sighed, for this he had killed the woman he loved. For this boy he had sacrificed the happiness he may have had with Anne and Elizabeth. He shook his head and grumbled slightly, making Edward flinch. No he thought, he loved Edward and he would make a great King, or at least he would save the country from civil war. Elizabeth could not be Queen, she may be stronger and more intelligent than Edward but she was a woman, and women were somehow weaker than men. England needed a King and Henry had provided them with one. His reasons for killing Anne were just, he had no other choice, she gave him no other choice but that did not stop him regretting it.

Hey that was pretty good!

I really liked how you told the story from Henry's perspective, it's the first Tudor story I've read that's like that! I also thought it was interesting to see Henry showing remorse. Most stories portray him as a heartless tyrannant drunk on his own power. Very refreshing Smiley

Wow, I really liked your fan-fiction Laura! I really liked how you made Henry regret getting rid of Anne. She was like the flame of his heart, far different from the other 600 wives. Thanks for taking the time to write this up. You should think about doing another one, I'd read it.
