Hi Everyone, sorry for the delay with this translation. I’ve been away in Edinburgh celebrating my birthday :] Thanks again to Katia for translating this for us!

Natalie Dormer is one of the British rising stars of cinema. Versatile beauty, intriguing, seductive and a talented woman which earned her many roles mostly in costume. From the very beginning. Just six months after graduation acting (The famous Webber Douglas London, from which came Angela Lansbury and Terence Stamp), Natalie got the part that would change her life: Victoria – in Casanova, alongside Heath Ledger and Sienna Miller- Had to be a minor role. Then the director saw her work and decided to increase the number of poses. For Natalie followed Anna Boleyn role in drama for the BBC The Tudors: a success that made known to the general public. Suspended between dream and reality – before acting school she has lived in a squat and
made countless jobs -  she has a natural charisma, which assigns to people she play. So much so that Madonna would wanted for her in the role of Lady Elizabeth Bowen-Lyon (the Queen Mother) W.E. In 2012 another serial is coming on TV, Game of Thrones.

How was working with Madonna?

“I have enormous respect for her. They say it all, no one can deny that she is incredibly brave in continually reinventing herself. She has a strong sense of humor and she is very good on encouraging you.”

And what part would you like to play?
Many of the roles that I want remain a bit premature for a twenty-nine year old. Shakespeare’s Cleopatra, Chekhov’s Arkadina, Martha in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? by Edward Albee or Blanche Dubois in Tennessee Williams. The women become sexier and attractive with age: these big writers showed it.

TV, film and theater: preferences?
The stage and the screen are my best friends, and both reflect different aspects of my personality and skills. I could not live without them. An actor on stage always has a certain autonomy, a freedom of movement which also leads excitement. A film requires endurance
physical and courageous choices, but the moment of live performance increased risks (does not have the safety net is mounting, to eliminate errors). How many actors, I love the rehearsal room more than any other thing, both in film and theater. It is the time of exploration pure. ”

The funniest episode, on or off the stage?
Last year I played for six months in a show where, in the first act, I interpreted a drunk. Every evening, for an hour, danced and gave me anywhere on the heels, and my colleagues were always surprised because i never hurt myself. Then one evening, after the show, I was
in the dressing room and sitting to tie my boot I slammed with my face on a corner, sorting black eye. A bruise that was left for weeks and that I had to cover with several layers of makeup.

Showbiz: hates, loves?
I hate the way in which a small part of industry promotes the woman- stick as the only model can. Take Monica Bellucci Breathtaking! Beauty and talent have a wide range of shapes and sizes,
and I am concerned that the girls be induced to be skinny. But I love the ability of actors and actresses to play all the time. We are eternal children

You has your own recipe for anti-fatigue?
Yoga. I started twenty years, in a drama school: yoga rectifies posture, maintain flexible and revolutionizes the respiratory and voice. It helps me to endure hours of exhausting work, costumes, flights between a set and the other.

For a famous person av normal life is a luxury. For her?
When I’m home, it makes me happy go to the market, read the newspaper, Sunday morning with coffee, drinking a beer at the pub in peace. And then I love cooking for my friends: an opportunity to see them, after prolonged times sometimes even months. There is nothing better than a good wine, I swear. Friends, homemade food, laughter, music. Also for a public figure.

Also applies to relationships?
“My partner works in the field, he understands timetables and mechanisms, which it helps. We can stay away for long, but the distance revives the fire.

The dream of Natalie Dormer?
To find bold projects, interesting. Working with talented people. Shooting a movie in Italy.

Thanks for the translation! I love the part about the theatre roles she’d like to play one day; I could definitely see her as Arkadina or Martha, though as she says she might have to wait a while before taking on those roles! You know what classic stage role I would love to see her in, though? Nora, from Ibsen’s A Doll’s House. She’s around the right age for it and I think she’d be perfect physically as well as emotionally and mentally. She’s obviously shown us how great she is at playing women who are strong yet vulnerable, and I think she could do great justice to the classic role of Nora. Fingers crossed! Anyway, great interview.

Good to get to read it!
