Variety is reporting today that BBC America has acquired rights to The Tudors! I know the show has already finished but this is a great sign and hopefully will get the show out to more people!
“The Tudors” will revive its reign on BBC America, which has acquired the rights to the Showtime series from CBS Television Distribution.
Starring Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, “The Tudors” will make its basic cable premiere when it launches Jan. 16 on BBC America in a marathon of episodes from its first two seasons. The regular timeslot for “The Tudors” will be at 10 p.m. Tuesdays.
In all, BBC America acquired 38 episodes of the drama, created by Michael Hirst. “The Tudors” concluded its Showtime run June 20.
The wives of Rhys-Meyers’ Henry VIII were played by Maria Doyle Kennedy, Natalie Dormer, Anita Briem, Annabelle Wallis, Joss Stone, Tamzin Merchant and Joely Richardson.
